COVID-19 drop off procedure – 29th May 2020

We will be implementing a slight change to the normal procedure when customers arrive with their dogs, in an effort to maintain social distancing and control potential virus spread.

From 1st June, the following procedure will be implemented.

What will happen when you drop off your dog at The Doggy Lodge

  1. Switch leads: Do this by attaching your dog to one of OUR leads which will be hanging on a hook, just outside the front door. Then take your dogs lead (and harness) away with you.
  2. Your dog will be collected by us: A member of staff will usually see you arrive. But if we do not see you then please do ring the bell, and then step back.
  3. We will wipe your dog down: We will bring your dog inside where we will wipe them down with water and disposable cloth. Just around their head, neck and back.
  4. Then is playtime!: Your dog will then be taken through as normal to mix with other dogs and staff members.
  5. Our lead will then we wiped down using antibacterial spray and placed outside on the hook, ready for the next client to arrive.

What will happen when you pick up your dog at The Doggy Lodge

  1. Switch leads: A member of staff will bring your dog out, and attach to the same hook. You may then attach the dog to YOUR lead, and remove OUR lead, then just leave as normal.
  2. The lead will be brought back inside by us to be wiped down with antibacterial spray, ready for the next dog.

These extra few steps are quite simple but will add a few minutes to the normal procedure, so please bear with us while we (and you) get used to a few new procedures that add an extra level of safety in these difficult times.

As always, if you have any concerns or queries, please contact us. It would be better if any questions are emailed directly to [email protected], so that we don’t miss any.

Thanks and best wishes to you all,

Paul, Rachel and The Doggy Lodge Team

Covid-19 update – 12th May 2020

Following the announcement by the Government at the weekend, and now having access to their guidelines on operating a business in these tricky times, The Doggy Lodge has decided to take its own small steps to return to work.

The first step will be to open for day care only on Monday 1st June. The online system will be able to take bookings in advance of that date, as normal. Our opening times will not change (7:30am – 6:30pm) but we will only be open Monday – Friday, so no day care on Saturdays throughout June. (Because we will not be staying on site overnight, it will not be possible to accept dogs before 7:30am)

We plan to re-open boarding on the 1st July. We will be contacting customers who already have bookings to make sure they still need our services. If you know that your plans have changed, please let us know as soon as possible. Thanks.

At the moment we are suspending all assessment meetings for new clients to help us reinforce our social distancing measures. As always, please contact us via email to discuss any new enquires.

We have a HUGE amount of information to go through for us to update our procedures so that we can operate as safely as possible. We will update you once we have decided the best course of action for bringing in dogs and sending them home in the evening.

So, the plan is –

1st June – re-open day care, Monday – Friday.
1st July – re-open boarding with day care resuming on Saturdays.

As always, if you have any concerns or queries, please contact us. It would be better if any questions are emailed directly to [email protected], so that we don’t miss any.

Thanks and best wishes to you all,

Paul, Rachel and The Doggy Lodge Team
